[D4 EN] A Bereft Brother [Baelon may invite other PCs]

An old man wrapped in a holy brother's robes wheels an exhausted looking but well cared for old rounsey through the crowds, desperately seeking Baelon Drakeson.

As soon as he saw the bright green flames on the night sky he had ridden straight for them, when men would count themselves wise to ride away. His heart was heavy, divided between concern for the inevitable casualties and well founded fears as to the likely cause of this outrage.

Given Lord Drakeson's heroics in rescuing survivors from the blazing inn and the already swirling rumours that while cloth and hair were singed, House Drakeson's lord's skin bore no marks, Brother Kyle had little difficulty in tracking Baelon down.

The old man panted, struggling to get the words out.

"
My son... Seven be good, I fear this was my son..."

Baelon sighs, and shakes his head.
"
I had fears that there might be a peasant uprising, but this... he could not have done this alone. I fear there are those that would see him dead before he can reveal how he got his hands on wildfire."


Sorry Daveth, there's no time for me to consult... but I hope this doesn't come to blades.
He grabs the reigns of his horse, left nearby, and calls over to one of his bloodriders.

"
I need your horse. Find Ser Jorah and tell him where we are going. Gather the Bloodriders and follow - tell Ser Jorah that I have gone ahead with Brother Kyle. Make sure he knows it is urgent, and there is no time to wait on infantry - insist that he come with just the Bloodriders. Other than that, he is in charge. Brother Kyle, give the directions, and prepare to ride faster than you have in many a year."

said brother Kyle, seizing a torch to light their difficult late night ride.

But were the guardsmen Lady Corrine Marsten had set to follow Baelon alert to his movements, or had they lost him in the chaos?

As Brother Kyle rode beside Lord Drakeson he shouted over in concern.

Lord Drakeson, I fear for Ser Hugh. Even with the Crone's light to guide me or the Father's wisdom, I could not say a way this end well for him."


Ser Kyle referred only to "

I know Prince Aemond by reputation, and if even half of what is said is true he will demand blood to wash away the insult and injury done to royal party."


He rides on, waiting for any word from Baelon before pressing the issue further.

Yes, he will. If... if Ser Hugh is responsible for this attack, then... "

He scowls, frustrated and disappointed.

The many who was once Ser Kyle Bracken rides onwards, turning Lord Drakeson's words over in his head.

Would that I had never had the vanity to train Hugh in the ways of a knight, or to fill his heart with thoughts of equality and justice.

Baelon thinks he can make out a grunt of agreement and a nod from the old knight, his manners forgotten amid the stress and panic of the night as the two ride onward.
