Athelstan takes the less traveled roads coming back from Stone Hedge and heading to Raventree again, his mind elsewhere taking at the nice scenery, until he is interrupted by three men.

Luecian hears some voices ahead, just having recently disembarked from a few fellow investigators he had taken a less direct and open route home. Dismounting and tying his horse to a tree, he tries to stealthily approach the commotion, hopefully unknown and unseen he slowly prowls forward with his bow and a spear in one hand. As he reaches a hidden vantage point, he softly places the spear on the ground a few feet away and readies himself with a few arrows placed in the ground around him.

Battlefield quality: they're holed up in a stout wooden watchtower constructed by House Blackwood. An archer could set fire to the building (not destroying it, but damaging it and flushing the occupants out). TN15 Marksmanship Test, imposes 1 fatigue on all foes before combat starts due to smoke fumes. Only one shot per archer before combat begins.

Tactics: Knockdown attempts and lesser attacks. As they take injuries and begin less effective combatants, switch to assisting uninjured brother who attacks. Against archers, sprint to close the distance (start 80 yards apart) and then grab.

Assuming they both have the same stats.

Neither Passive or Active Awareness will reveal Luecian. Please Make an Awareness (notice) check Luecian. I need to determine the distance you are away from the conversation. Multiply times 4 and that is your distance in yards. The men are load, so you can hear them farther away than you might.

After the surprise shot from someone hidden one of the brothers attempts to trip him in a quick move, but failing to do so he delivers a quick stab that finds a chink in Athelstan armor, but not a deep enough cut.

Athelstan can only growl as he is caught by surprise from both the arrow shot and the brother, but regaining quick footing before the others.

This is how you do it"
using the longer handle of his axe he pulls one of the man's legs towards him and makes him, followed by a over head axe chop that digs deep into the man sides going deep enough to cut his spine. Athelstan yanks his axe with a meaty sound.

[OOC: He can't really target B2, because both you and B3 are in the way. He loses the bonus test die because surprise no longer applies, and he takes a -1D for trying to hit a moving target with a ranged weapon.

He could shoot B2, but both you and B3 provide cover (as per the bystander rules). Depending on how badly he misses, he could shoot B3, or Athelstan could get an arrow in his back.

He's better off just to shoot B3 and save any potential... misunderstandings.]

Luecian watches in surprise as Athelstan drops one of the robber knights with a single wicked blow. Be reminding meself not to get on that one's bad side eh. Not sure he really be needing me help but since I'm here mayhaps as well even the odds a bit more. Taking aim at the same target as before, he tracks the charging foe with his eyes. Taking a deep breath he releases hoping the arrow's path anticipates the bandit's path.

[Basically, you are firing into a close combat, and there are bodies in the way. With your skill, you might be fine, and if you had *Accurate*, there probably would be no issue at all. (Sorry if you do have it.)

Luecian watches the fight clearly impressed by the ironborn warrior's skill and ferocity. I heard me the stories but surely seeing it real like be something different. Shaking his head as if to clear it, he refocuses and readies another arrow to fly. Let's see if I can put this in that fool's head and be impressin that ironborn with me own skills as well. Taking another deep breath and exhaling, he draws back and lets his will fly across the sky.
