Iron Shackles Cast off!
As the castle is waking up, a great hue and cry goes up. “Holy” Harry, one of Ser Lionel Darry's band of religious raiders, has escaped. He's made it to a horse, and it will take a skilled rider or a archer to recapture him.

Participants: two participant per house, for blatant meta-gaming reasons. Sue me. Try to decide this in your OOC forums like civilised people rather than just leaping on the thread. Those of you who are good riders or good shots (he's within bow range and you can snatch one up that's nearby) are ideal for this scene.

This is in no way a hastily cobbled together replacement for a chase scene I had planned before my stupid (creative and diligent? - ed) players ruined it. I want to try out the chase rules!

Challenges:
Chase scene rules...
“Holy” Harry starts with one point already, as he has a good headstart.
Everyone mounted and chasing makes an animal handling (ride) check each round at TN (12) or they lose one point. Those content to simply fire arrows don't.
Harry's mount's movement is 8, remember to test your mount's athletics (run) not your own.

Consequences
Whoever reaches this wretch first/injures him enough to force surrender/shoots his mount: +1 glory Tully's disposition to your character improves by one step, and you receive a gold dragon as a reward.
If “Holy” Harry escapes, we can only pray to the gods, old and new, that he won't return to wreak havoc.

Athelstan is wearing his gambeson to ride light during the chase, picking up his shield and his axe, he watches the Harry escape putting the distance on all the competitors.

A smile across his face putting all the trust on his steed to see him safe through the ride focus on your target and take him down quick

Ser Kevan hears the uproar and sees a single silhouette flee on a horse.

, everybody is screaming and cursing.

Kevan sprints over to his horse, and climbs into the saddle in one swift move. Unfortunately, he hooks his foot in one of the stirrup, which causes him to lose precious time! Damn it, concentrate, you have to get him!

Ser Jorah had been bringing his horse around from the stables to the tourney grounds when the cry went up.

“One of the Darry Zealots,” he swore, “I’ll be damned if I let one of them escape.” He leapt onto his horse, spurring his stallion into action and giving chase.

"
Loreia, one of the Darry bastards is escaping,"
he shouted to the guardsman.

Loreia answers Jorah's call and races for a courser. One may hear a high-spirited whinny first, and then she appears, spurring past other riders on a red dun warmblood. The horse itself appears to be of better stock than most of the other coursers present.

Having charged too soon, the horse rears and whinnies again at nearly planting into a cart. WIth a comforting word and a stirring kick, the horse is off as quickly as it had stopped, weaving past the other riders after Harry. Its mane brushes her face in the breeze as she leans in, whispering encouragement. Loreia's familiarity with lesser creatures appears to be paying off.

At Ser Kevan's bellows for help, Ser Derrock whizzles past astride the same rounsey he'd been seeing jousting with. He rides silently, lowering himself to catch speed and keep pursuit.

As a destrier, Breaker, Dyana's stallion, may not be the fastest breed of horse, but together rider and steed are unrelenting in their pursuit. [Since this is a chase rather than combat, it is doubtful that the "
increase speed"
option applies. Further, since sprinting as fast as they can is what everyone does here, it's a fair assumption to my eyes that one simply looks at the athletics(run) test and whoever gets higher goes faster. Having speed 6 means everyone with speed 8 gets +2D on you, we're using the chase rules here rather than combat movement.]

Cries setpon Arlyn as he jumps onto the back of his palfrey. His vestments go whipping in the air behind him as he thinks to himself What am I doing, I'm no warrior. His horse has a mighty burst of speed as he gains on the traitor of the faith, then with a stumble the palfrey slips on some wet grass before regaining its footing. This is insane, I'm like a dog chasing a wolf, I have no idea what I'm going to do if I catch him Then the smallfolk that Arlyn passed on the way to the tournament, hanging in the tree flashed into his mind, the seven pointed star carved like a sick sacrament into his chest.

Loreia rides hard and aggressive after Harry, reveling a bit in what becomes a friendly competition between the riders giving chase. The lead shifts between her and a few other riders - Athelstan, Dyana and...a hoary old man?? She manages to reach Harry a few times, mercilessly swiping at the unarmed fugitive. She narrowly scrapes him once or twice and lands a good cut on both his arm and leg before he drops from the pain. The group covers a total distance of some 80-100 yards by the time Harry hits the ground. All circle the escaped prisoner menacing their weapons. Seeing the folly of an attempt beyond this point, he surrenders. The Tully guards who happened to be chasing quickly had him tied and thrown over a rounsey. On the way back, the captain meets them halfway.

"
Who was it caught the sap?"
he asks. When one or two guards point to the Coldbrook warrior woman claiming she's the one, he looks instead at the others. He finally approaches Loreia after a nod and a word of confirmation from Derrock Swann. After asking her name - which she gives - he holds a closed fist up, and from it he drops a gold dragon into her hand. "
Lord Tully thanks you for your efforts in keeping this zealot from escaping justice."
And then it's back to business as usual.
