Story 2 Q&
A as promised Empty Story 2 Q& A as promised

Post by Reader Sat Jan 30, 2016 5:12 pm

Story 2 is now effectively wrapped up.

Here's a thread for people to ask about elements of story 2, as several of you asked for this during the story.

The management reserve the right to "
no comment"
any question it desires. Sometimes this will be done to protect the guilty, sometimes to protect the innocent and sometimes to create confusion.

Generally however I hope to provide full and helpful answers.

Many thanks to everyone for fully engaging with a "
mystery/investigation"
plotline. These things can fall flat on their face if the players don't get the clues. You used your knowledge of Westeros and your IC abilities to think things through properly. I really enjoyed reading the speculation in the house forums during the early days of the investigation, and the subsequent politicking over the treaty.

Ask away!

Wylla the Weaver, who only the Coldbrooks interacted with (I think) and was only discoverable via rumours. The grief stricken mother would have feigned friendliness and then attacked anyone present who she blamed for the death of her son (not sure anyone uncovered this). She's not an impressive combatant, but that wouldn't have been the point of the scene. Twisted Evil

I did indeed post it! Will dig it out later if nobody else does, making tea soon.

Ser Kyle Bracken (a retired knight), Wylla the Weaver (distributes supplies for her son, Ser Hugh) and Ser Hugh Rivers, but needed moving heaven and earth. Even mitigating it was a heroic display by the Coldbrooks/Drakesons that they were justly rewarded for.

Hm. We found and talked to all three, but didn't make the connection between Wylla and Hugh, nor did we grasp that Ser Hugh was behind the attack.

Ah well.

Huh. For some reason, I thought Lord Baelon did uncover the connection between them when he spoke with the father. Still, would have been funny if this happened to Daveth - he's probably one of the few PCs who would actually be at severe risk of *losing* that fight.

Can't remember if someone connected the link to the mother. Will check old threads. Daveth was a likely candidate for the scene with the mother post uprising - seemed almost about to happen once or twice. Would have tied in to some of your personal goal stuff/resulted in a humiliating injury.

I seem to recall you had something horrible in the pipeline for Corrine. I got the impression it would occur diring Story 2. Did that get avoided, or is that still to come?

Accidentally sabotaged by another PC's actions. Re-purposed and lying in wait. Sad

So, saving it for the next opportunity? Is that why you aren't saying what it was or who stymied it? Twisted Evil

As with many scenes that meddling PCs sabotage, it is waiting in a word document to strike later.

Gwyneth Drakeson wrote:Hm. We found and talked to all three, but didn't make the connection between Wylla and Hugh, nor did we grasp that Ser Hugh was behind the attack.

Ah well.

Indeed - Coldbrook/Drakeson did a much better job on this story thread than my original scenario anticipated, to the extent that I had to rewrite some scenes/events. Stopping the whole damn thing would have required some combination of incredible OOC thinking/wonderful rolls/destiny points burning.

There were a few event clues hidden behind very high roles, some clues to hit via roleplay etc. Not to mention needing the good luck to pursue the relevant scenes before the mayhem began. At least you guys got some of them in time.

Just curious...Was there actually anything in that Bear Cave to be discovered? I do not recall anyone finding anything of note.

No (proper) comment, sorry. See some other recent mystery rolls to confuse/frustrate yourself further.

Maybe a red herring when I was in a fey mood, maybe more.

The beast was a bear;
a symbol of Mother Russia.

And as we all know, Communism is just a red herring.

Guilty as charged on the weird bear/communism metaphor. :?

Septon Arlyn wrote:Did Lord Byron Blackwood have any hand in the crimes committed?

Yes, by some interpretations.

Baelon wrote:Or Lord Haig, Ser Myles, or Lady Kerry?

At least one of those is a yes by some interpretations, Lady Kerry is innocent.
