Agility (Acrobatics): Formidable (12) Increase your Movement by 1 yard, plus 1 yard per degree.

Do you rule that this adds to base movement or overall movement?

Instinct is it ads to overall movement, otherwise causes issues when you multiple you sprint/charge etc.

Opponent to debate. Smile

We rule overall inside combat and base outside combat, but I have seen it done to base all the time or overall all the time.

I am just making sure how you do it here.

I like the inside v outside combat idea as long as it doesn't produce unrealistic sprint times. Smile

Max you can get with 5 base +5 with 4DoS x5 with the Fast quality is 100 yards in 12 seconds.

Olympic athletes consistently run the 100 yard dash in about 9 seconds. 12 seconds often wouldn't make the qualifiers.

So it's not unrealistic. In the top athletes it wouldn't even be remarkable.

The other major use of Run is to increase your speed. In combat, whenever you take the Sprint action, you can attempt a Formidable (12) Athletics test to run faster and, thus, cover more ground. A success allows you to sprint 1 extra yard per degree.

Run does give a flat bonus to movement based on every two specialty dice.

Standard base is 4. 3B would give you a base of 5. 4B would give you a base of 6.

I suppose the absolute fastest you could run would be {[4 +3 (7B run) +1 (Fast) +5 (4DoS Agility)] x5 (Fast)} + 4 (4DoS Run) = 69 yards in 6 seconds.

11.5 yards per second... or the hundred yard dash in 8.7 seconds.

Given what you would have to invest in to get that, and the rolls would have to make, shaving .3 off the average 9 seconds most gold medal winners attain is not too bad. I wouldn't call it unreasonable or overpowered.

I'd say that's just about perfect, excellent. We'll go with this solution then.

Can I remind everyone of this please?

I'm not strict on PC v NPC stuff, but I'd like people to do this properly in Story 2. I've spotted the odd "
double roll"
- I check orokos logs for individual characters too! Maybe these are due to snafus with Orokos, or an identical roll being linked for a similar PbP at exactly the same time. It's easier for me to track everything if you all use the campaign name.

Management reserves the right to ignore rolls without the campaign name.

Discipline now will save silliness when PvP intrigues/combat occur.

Story 2, King's Justice
People seem to have the impression that where you choose to rest has political ramifications, but it's never outright stated. Or is that an understanding available to people who roll Cunning or Knowledge? Currently known places to stay are the Green Door Inn, House Blackwood/Bracken(Warrior's Seat and Raventree Hall), or just in the lands somewhere between. So, can I get some confirmation and explanation if this is supposed to be a thing?

Well, accepting one of the invitations clearly has political implications. The Inn is a neutral location, but the innkeeper is charging an arm and a leg. Smile

To elaborate on Gwyn's point, it would be taken as a sign of favoring that house - or at least being willing to put yourself in the position where good hospitality might sway your attitudes in that house's favor.

Nobody has asked for a check on this yet.

Staying at either house will probably lead to accusations of bias from the other house, or NPCs/PCs might use it to score political points.

I don't have big plans for this at the moment, but it's an ace in the hole if I need it, no say nothing of what other PCs might do with the information. Twisted Evil

Just think it through IC and keeping asking (as you've done here) if you need more info. Baelon and Gwyn have the right feel for the situation.

Happy to answer more questions, appreciate there's a lot going on! Smile

In fairness, I doubt any Black is taking Nathan's presence at Raventree as a sign of his support.

Baelon's presence is an obvious red (black?) flag in a way you aren't, for example.

For the "
Calling first"
events, are those persuade/deception rolls using any specialties?
I've noticed that some have used them and some have not, so I'm not sure what to roll.

I meant to allow appropriate specialites (those who've rolled already can manually add bonus dice if desired). As always, using seduce or intimidate etc may have IC consequences.

Corollary question inspired by Jamys. Are our rolls in those events directed at the lord or a more general audience? If the lord, should disposition apply? If not the lord, what status should we use for the purposes of Bastard Born (and maybe other qualities)?

No disposition applies (performing to multiple audiences and to keep things simple! Can see argument for it, but sorry, simplicity wins here).

Bastard born applies.

I actually favor that interpretation, so no apology necessary. Very Happy

Reader wrote:Bastard born applies.
What Status (BBorn only applies a penalty when interacting with those above you in Status)?
From story 1 I know Lord Haig has Status 6, but the rest of his court would be lower. I have no idea about Lord Benjicot.

I'll try to add status scores to the NPC list.

Blackwood court is less impressive for the moment - Ser Myles Blackwood is acting regent and Status 5 as is Lord Benjicot (he's got a potential status of 6, but hasn't grown in to it yet).

How does his new lordship work with him being Ben's page? Does it negate the deal I made with his father?

His uncle is regent for the moment, so the deal is not voided yet, but it may need to be adjusted IC by either sending Ser Benjen to Blackwood lands or acquiring a new Blackwood squire. The relationship has already provided a small bonus to some rolls and will continue to do so. Smile

How does the daily streetwise work? Should it be in it's own thread of us speaking to people or as a part of a big thread where everyone post their results?
