Heheh, reminds me of Holy Grail. No need to worry about it spreading, she's cured.

Thanks to my players for getting there first! I agree with their answers. Players helping out on things like this makes my job much easier.

So, I saw mention of it in the "
bread and salt"
. So if one wants to come interact with others in the great hall during that timeslot, one should branch out into different threads?

Oops! I saw that and then forgot when I responded. I can edit the Daveth part of my post into a new thread if desired.

You can break off to a side thread to avoid cluttering the main thread for an official event (dance partner, social chat during bread &
salt etc).

Use your judgement - a couple of posts in an event thread is ok, but if you thing it will be a long conversation that take it to a side thread.

Idea is to make it easier for me to catch the official event mechanical posts.

One thing caught my mind, a lot of the players take it upon themselves to speak for the NPCs as well as to write what their actions are. I did the same on one occasion, with a minor man at a arms and to justify the rolls in the original post - but I was wondering where is the limit in that?
IMO we should't do that at all, only Reader can write what for example Jox Roxton says or does, and when he returns to bed from the Inn, not we the players.

For the record. I had already discussed the scene with Reader. I would never write actions for a narrator character without his permission.

As for minor characters I created like Adraeya or Davydd... or even Mira. They are just narrative constructs for plot purposes. Our characters do not operate in a vacuum. It's just not reasonable that Nathan would travel alone to Riverton. Neither would Dunstan. As Lord to a House he probably has an army of servants, retainers and guards traveling with him. They are simply window dressing. Scene staging if you like. Mannequins. They would never do official actions like that of a PC, Cohort, or Narrator NC.

If you like, you can add a small Out-of-character note, like "
[NC, or fill-in-the-blank with NC name(s)] actions/dialogue discussed with Reader"
. Would help clear things up.

I agree that that seems like a reasonable compromise, at least when a PC narrates the reactions of NCs. In the case of "
entourage"
characters created by the player himself, I don't think it's necessary.

All sensible thoughts - keep NPC direction mild, but it can add flavour. They're just window dressing.

If my post gently contradicts something a PC posts for an NPC, narrator post wins! Smile

Sorry boy.

How do you feel about having a 'roleplay planning' thread for players who want to roleplay with a PC but don't have a preference, or instead have conditions regarding who can't? I wouldn't mind meeting Ellie or Nathan in the Godswood, but I don't actually meet some characters in person until later(Baelon, Benedict and Dunstan). Mentioning these conditions could also save us from temporal parasoxes.

I believe that that is a good idea, but it may be easier to have the thread in out of character, because then when you have found someone you can make the arrangements for a place you could both visit, and then start the Ic thread.

although I came with another suggestion, I really liked yours:)

This is an excellent idea. Suggest meetings or even just create an open thread while you pray (or prey!), carouse or shop and post a link to it.

We did this in the l5r winter court.

Someone make it so.

Why not? I've always wanted to ask, "
hey, would any of you Ironborn like to walk with me in the Betrayal Garden?"
out loud. Yes, Out-of-Character would be the only place for such a thread.

I'd be inclined to disagree, actually. Keeping animals indoors, in living/sleeping areas, was the norm throughout the Middle Ages, so I'd fully expect to see the Tullys' favorite hounds lounging about the Great Hall. Since Loreia's pet is just a dog, not a dire wolf or some other "
savage beast"
, I'd only see people protesting its presence if it starts getting ornery with people or with the regular inhabitants' animals.

Feel free, I was only being sarcastic.

I had another question for Reader, would the Night's Watch to come into play if someone gets sentenced to the Wall, or is that just a game-over?

Nights watch:

1) be a recruiter
2) make a new character but can direct old character in the offseason between major stories (when other people also get to narrate what they do, make a few rolls to determine success and earn xp appropriate to the activity).
